Malaika
Empowering Our Next Generation of Leaders
Based in the rural village of Kalebuka, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malaika was founded in 2007 by Noëlla Coursaris Musunka, with a dream to bring education to girls. Malaika has now grown into an ecosystem that supports the empowerment of an entire community — offering primary and secondary education to 430 girls, a Community Center, vocational training, a small farm that provides food for school and staff and nearly 30 wells that provide clean water to thousands of residents.

Since 2016 I’ve worked with the incredible team at Malaika to help create marketing materials raising awareness about the organization, and supporting fundraising efforts. In 2024 I was able to visit the DRC to attend a graduation, celebrate the opening of new community center buildings, and lead a design workshop with students.
